This knife is a design based on a spin off of Erik Markman's Taurus and etched using John Cohea's ferric chloride advice he graciously bestowed upon me. This is my 4th knife, second hidden tang, first peened pin, first guard/ferrule fitting. I'm pretty pleased. Next time I know to make sure the pins are ground perfectly flat before peening. One side rounded out perfectly while the other side deformed at the top.
I blued the ferrule several times and rubbed it with 320 grit sand paper. I then knocked down its' sharp edges a la Nick Wheeler's WIP (great tip). The micarta handle was hand sanded to 1000 then buffed. I wish I would have stopped around 600, I might still go back over it with 600 grit sandpaper. I'm pretty proud of this one but there are some complaints. The main one is my scandi grind set up was moved and I couldn't perfectly match the angle after heat treat. There are a couple of uneven spots towards the back of the bevel but since this is my user I figured over time the stones will straighten it out. I would really appreciate your comments, this is the first knife I've posted on here for critique. Don't hold back!
No gaps!!
