Scandi Grind Beckers....please?/BK14 Micarta

I'm sure there's a few of us who are fans of a scandi grind. Any of the Becker models you'd like to see with a scandi grind in particular or a whole new model?

I think a BK16 would lend itself well to a scandi grind. A scandi BK2 would be downright kinky. I also think a BK14/24 with a scandi grind could be quite interesting.....and welcomed. :)

While I'm at it and I've requested it before....could we get some factory micarta scales for the BK14/24?.....PLEASE!!!! It's the only model in the line lacking them!! I know there are aftermarket options....but I really don't get why there's not a factory option available for a knife this popular. The zytel ones are functional....but some of us prefer micarta....just saying.....and again.....PLEASE!!!!!!

I love the sharpness of my new Mora Robust Companion. I had to touch it up some and realized that I am not very good a t sharpening scandi grinds for some reason.

I was considering doing a true full convex grind on my bk-14. I.e. taking the flat grind right down to the edge's apex. Just for fun.

Micarta is useful.

The handle on the 14 is actually the handle from an Esee Izula. If you want to get micarta, you can get the micarta from Esee and put it on.

I rendered a scandi bushcraft tweener once upon a time:

I've done this. The 14 handle is just a bit thicker so the liner on the usual handles has to be trimmed down just a bit in some spots.

There it is again! That is my favorite rendering of a Becker knife.

We all know I love scandi grinds, I would own a few of these if they became a reality.

And it's an awesome rendering sir. I'd take one right now if it existed.

Thanks man, it was a fun rendering. Funny, I design stuff based on the tweener handle, which doesn't even fit my hand, haha. Makes it look "Beckerish" though.

Well aware and thanks for your input. I actually modded a set of Izula scales when the BK14 first came out years ago. Doesn't quite do it for me. I like the dimensions of the zytel handles better....but wish they were made from micarta.

It's just one of those things that bugs me. Every knife in the Becker line has a micarta option from the factory except the BK14/24 and I really just don't understand why. The BK14 I would think is one of their top sellers. Many of us have the zytel handles. They're functional for sure. I could get micarta from 710 Customs or G10 from Dale at TKC, I know they're both well made. But I'd just like a factory micarta option with the same dimensions as the zytel scales. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think for many of us if they existed, they'd be a big seller for Becker/KaBar.

Care to make a rendering of a BK2 with a scandi grind? That would be one amazing knife I think. I am thinking though, maybe not as thick as a standard BK2, but a scandi version I think could be a really fun bushcrafting/camp knife. The tweeners fit my hand ok, but the standard models are much more comfortable for sure.

I haven't done many renderings for awhile. Kinda got burned out on it. Here's a page of renderings I've done: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/928070-Becker-BK-Style-Renderings

Here's one I turned into reality: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...and-Stripped-and-Striped-Oh-My!-(Photo-Heavy)

Great work sir!! R&D at Becker/KaBar should hire you. A lot of really great ideas for sure. I understand getting burned out, but you've got talent, don't give up on it.

Thanks. I haven't given up, I just go through phases with it.
