Scandi grind for a Rusty SD?

Anyone ever tried a scandi grind on their SD? I assume a belt sander is the most efficient way, but is their a feasible method for those who lack power tools?

Probably not. Diamond stones work decently, but I took a few hours to just get a small bevel on mine. Not willing to go scandi. I suppose one way would be to send it to Tom Krein? Gotta make sure he doesn't grind out the kami signatures though...

I've done it on a couple kardas for my kuks... it's pretty time consuming to do with stones, but it can be done. I'd just be a reluctant to do it on a Rusty SD though for fear of taking off the kami mark

I like to sharpen all my knives using a rod guided system designed to fit a particular knife. Similar to a Edge Pro but much more heavy duty, and using 3M lapping film from 40 to .3 micron. Never had any problem staying away from kami marks. It's pretty slow compared to power tools, but worth the time.
