So I have recently come to admire the scandi grind for its simplicity and also its history. I was wondering if you can put a scandi grind on any knife or are there certain cases where it will not work? I ask because I was thinking about putting one on my SOG seal pup elite. any input would be great

The "cheaper steel" of the SOG would not fair well with that type of grind. usually tougher steels are used with those style of grinds because the very edge is thin and can be damaged easily. You can try if you want but I would not suggest it, its also not as simple as just grinding it. If you are unsure of what you are doing you could end up making the knife useless.

id say just pick up a mora if you wanted to experience the scandi grind, dirt cheap and great knives to boot

thank you knifenut and matt. No worries knifenut, I didn't mean I would try it myself because I would be scared of doing just that. And I have been eyeing those moras. Guess I have another excuse to get a new knife haha

the moras are really great, if your so inclined grab one of the blade blanks from somewhere like ragweed forge and have a go making a handle for it. Its great fun.

I really like ragweed forge and will probably make my purchase there as it is. thanks for the neat idea

well it sounds like I should save some time and my knife and get a mora. Thanks for all the input and the sweet pictures
