ABout to try a scandi grind on a knife with a curved toward the tip and wondering if there is any secret to keeping the grind line nice and even around the curve area?

I like that idea. Seems like a really nice jig. Might have to put something together.

You changed the solid riser block to a "slice" of square tubing - very interesting, lighter and still quite stiff...

Actually, went the other way. Square tube to solid block. Mass reigns supreme!

If ya' don't mind me asking.....what angle is the guide set at? I like that set-up!!!

Mind what? Knife making is not rocket science. 12.5 will get you where you want to go. You can present a 12.5 degree blade to a 90 degree platen (pic above) or a 90 degree blade to a 12.5 degree platen - the blade won't care.

Yes. Pivot the blade - look at what you are doing and what you need to do will become clear. Keep the blade flat against the jig and its almost a no brainer operation.

So for the curved part of knives do you just turn it by hand along the jig
