Scandi Ground Questions?

Okay, so a few questions here :)

So I just got my first Moras in this afternoon and was inspecting the Scandi grind (my first time ever seeing one). I can see why they are supposed to be very easy to sharpen, the bevel grind (correct use of term?) is very long, so you can just hold that part flat to the stone and start swiping right?

How is a Scandi grind different than a Saber grind? Aren't they both supposed to be a half grind that have a straight V at the start of the grind?

What are the pros and cons of Scandi?

Are there any folders that use a Scandi grind?

Thanks :D

I believe a Scandi grind has only the V and the flats whereas a Saber grind has a small v that then changes angle into another, shallower, grind, and then into the flats.

Hi,

The pros to the Scandi grind as you see, easy to do. The bad thing about Scandi grinds is you need to remove steel all along that bevel to re-sharpen. That's a lot of metal to remove compared to the much small vee or convex grind most knives sport.

Traditionally, the Scandinavians didn't go for folders. Even to this day fixed blades are more popular. But there is a line of folding knives with the Scandi grind by the Swedish company EKA. I particularly want to get the Swede 88 Masur. It's a lock back with curly birch scales. Plus they have a few other models with plastic scales.

Now go buy some Moras and stash them all around.
