I keep reading about the scandi grind, and how some prefer it over the other grinds for bushcrafting. I figured it was about time I tried to do one. I finished it this afternoon. 7 1/2" overall, with a 3 1/2" blade of 1/8" O1, with basic oak handles. This one will be going around to some of the guys for testing after the New Year.

That looks pretty good, although I would prefer Micarta myself. Nice

I went "low budget" on the handle because this one will be given away at the end of the testing to one of the testers.

Low budget is different from 'Works just fine forever'.

I like that Scandi - it looks like that Blind Horse knife made for Pathfinder a little bit.

I would like to see your grind close up if you would.

Hi Stomper -

Looks great! I can't wait to get my hands on it.

best regards -

Looks great John, I like how you have not just copied the traditional scandi knife shape, instead you have come up with an original design as Dan Koster did with his scandi Nessmuk !

Can't wait to give it a whirl !!!!

Woo-hoo!

Looking good, John. I look forward to taking my turn with this one.

All the best,

- Mike

I have never tried a scandi. I too like the dropped edge you put on it.
John, what do you think? Does it cut differently than your normal knives?
