How do you carry your fixed blade knives? Traipsing uphill this past Monday, in blowing snow with a load of firewood, I thought about falling with my Kephart on my hip. Would it turn sideways, and impale me? Got me thinking about when I was working outside in the blizzard a couple weeks ago. I had my small Gossman PSK Jr on me in a neck sheath, for safety reasons. The native cultures of northern Europe mainly carry their knives around their neck, partly to keep the blade warm in their frigid winters, but I'm guessing also to prevent bad injuries?
How do you carry your fixed blades? Pocket? Neck sheath? Belt? Baldric? The aforementioned PSK Jr. is in a Saami/Nordic style neck sheath, made by Scott Gossman for me.
