Has anyone ever tried this? How did it end up after prolonged use and resharpening?

I’ve been using a work sharp with the belt grind attachment with great results on many blades but not sure it’s the best for scandi. In the long term wouldn’t you just end up with a convex scandi?

I haven't tried it because I don't like Scandi grinds. But I would imagine that you would get a convex edge - that's what the system is designed for.

Yeah, even a Scandi with it's wide bevel as a guide can end up with a little bit of convex at/near the cutting edge and some rounding of the bevel's shoulder, if sharpened freehand on stones. Most will rock the blade at least a tiny bit, perhaps imperceptably, which introduces the little bit of convexing.

Just make sure to keep the held angle conservatively low, so the rounding effects near the apex are minimized and the grind behind the edge remains relatively thin.
