Hello!

I'm really enjoying reading all these progress and hoe to threads. I always get usefull tips some usefull tips! So for that reson I've desided to show you all how I make my knives...

I'm a scandinavian maker and like most of the scandi makers I buy the blades from proffesional bladesmiths and "only" make the handles.

Here are some progress pictures of a fighter i recently made:

Very nice knife! If you don't mind me asking how did you get the metal spacers to curve around the handle pieces perfectly like that...is it just thin enough so that it can be bent when press fitting everything together? Great job!

I was wondering the same. Very nice piece!

Very nice knife. I particular like the musk ox slabs and the damascus. I have an additional question. Why is there a "t-section" in the wood on the bottom of the handle? I can imagine why but I like a technical explanation please.

Thanks for all nice comments!

Yes, the metal spacers are thin enough to bend them when fitting it all togheter. In this case I've used pewter but the same works with brass, nicklesilver, bronze, silver... But they have to be thin enough. I mostly use spacers between 0,4-1mm thick.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean with the "T-section". Do you mean why I got a bottom end piece of grenadil, or is it something with the grenadil "liner" between the muskox scales?

Btw.

I made a similar thread about another project over in the makers forum, but somehow I forgot to post the last pictures and now I can't find the thread :D. And searching is dowwn for non-paying members...

Can somebody search through my posts or started threads and post a link to the other thread please?

It shouldn't take too long since I've only started about three thread...
