Hi,My printer just crapped out on me(for lack of a better term).

I'm looking for a replacement,preferably under $100,inkjet's OK,space is an issue,the smaller the better.

What do you think of this Canon?

I'd prefer to steer clear of Lexmark, since that was the one that just died on me & it was giving me problems since day one.

I don't need a fax machine.

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

That is good price but I don't know how they work.I have an HP,I think it's a 1210 that I bought at Walmart 4 or 5 years ago and I haven't had any problems with the unit.I'm not crazy about their customer service, there was free photo editing software that came with it but after a couple of years, they stopped supporting it and wanted to sell me something different.:rolleyes:I have a Lexmark also that is suppose to be a photo quality printer but the HP makes much better pictures.

I'd probably steer clear of Canon as well. HP has the best printers out there imo, and they usually aren't too expensive.

Thanks for the comments guys.

vret,Have you had an issue with Canon's personally?I've seen a big selection on HP all in one's,from $30-$60.

It could just be the models the people have bought, but I have had nothing but problems with them. (Side note: I manage about a dozen computer networks around the state of GA that total about 200-250 computers.) The biggest problem I've seen is that the ink feeds seem to jam up easily and they tend to be slower and louder that pretty much everything else I've used. They're probably on the upper end of your price range, but I'd probably suggest the Office Jet series from HP.

vret,Thanks. My nephew has a Canon & I noticed it was slower & louder than my Lexmark.

I think I'm gonna go with HP....any opinions on Epson or Brother?

Thanks:)

I would go with two separate units. The stand-alone scanners, particularly those from Epson, seem to have a much better depth of field, which is necessary for scanning 3-D items like knives.

I really like our HP printer, model D7360. Fast, good quality, and a separate ink cartridge for each color.

I'm happy with my HP Officejet 5610. It's not top of the line, but the scans are good quality and it prints quickly. And it's extremely easy to use. I've never faxed with it though.

I got it at Staples for something like $99 a few months ago.

Bob W makes a good point. It takes up a bit more desk space, but I think it is better to go with separate units when you can. A) If something breaks it tends be less expensive to replace and B) products that are specialized to their role seem to be of better quality.

As for Epson or Brother they both are great, but at different things that it seems like you are looking for. My experience with Brother printers is that they make great inexpensive B/W printers for printing a LOT of documents. Epson I think makes great photo printers, but more along the lines of larger format prints for pro photographers or digital photo enthusiasts with $$$ to waste.

Oh, and no thanks needed. I'm happy to contribute useful information where I can. The rest of my time around here is spent doing my impression of a sponge.:D

i just bought a new HP printer/scanner/fax at office max for $39.99 and it seems to mwork fine, no complaints.

I went out & bought one today. It's an HP Deskjet F4280.

The price was right. It takes up very little space. It works well enough for my purposes.

:thumbup:Thanks again for all your helpful suggestions.:)

Glad you found something that works for you. That model seems to have gotten decent reviews as well.
