Scanning Help!

I finally got a scanner but I need some help. When I scan my knives the handle comes out great but the blades show up dark. I've had some luck with stonewash but satin finishes are really dark. I have seen some great pic's here on the forums and would like to be able to do the same.

Al,
Try pushing the point of the blade down so that it touches the glass on the scanner. This will raise the handle off the glass but will still be in focus. I think this causes some of the light to be reflected in other directions besides right back down to the scanner. Also, Testors makes a spray paint called Dull Coat. A very light "SPRITZ" on the blade will give much better scanning results. A light coat will come off easily with WD 40 or acitone.
