I was looking at this knife on the SY site and liked what I saw and ordered one. I've heard great stuff about SR-101 but don't have any experience with it. This would be my first real heavy duty fixed blade. I have two Ka-Bar's and the Spyderco Warrior. I also don't know anything about Res-C. This will be my first Bussekin knife. What do you guys think about this knife? Please educate me. Also, with the thickness it seems kind of like a sharpened prybar and not so much a cutter. How is the out of box sharpness?

Edit: One more question, how does it compare to say the performance of an ESEE RC-5/6?

Looks to be an EXCELLENT value. I don't own a regulator, but i've had a chance to play with a Dogfather, and loved it. The res c handles are great and they have the same great warranty as Busse Combat. As long as you don't break it on purpose, it's covered, forever.

I think this thing is tank.
Res-C is very tuff stuff,super comfy grip.
great choice to get into the Busse Family of knives.
you wont be disappointed
 
I really want to order one. I need a mid sized res c handled knife.
 
Awesome knife! I got three. Mine weren't scary sharp from the factory. A little work on the benchstone and it has a nice sharp edge for such a thick blade. Don't expect a box except for the Priority Mail Box. :D Only a cardboard sheath, and the real sheath I hope you got for $5 more.

Res-C is awesome!! Once you use it, you're hooked. Here are a few Res-C pics to get your mouth watering!

Best knife ever! A worker and slicer. You can't go wrong with this one! Hit and miss with the factory sharpness but doesn't take much to get to hair popping.
 
I got a regulator with the sheath option and it is an awesome blade which I fully recommend. I thought it looked goofy at first but now I can't get enough of it. Res-C feels great as does the handle design. Mine was sharp but the edge could use some finesse. The thing is a tank but very well balanced.

Yes. I am quoting myself. Just because, even a craptastic sheath is a great value, and for $10 you can't go wrong. Still, I'd like to see it out of sheer curiosity. It's not a deal maker or breaker. Just a curiosity.
 
i've been wondering about the sheath as well.
don't have a Dog yet and the design of the Regulator has grown on me considerably
 
Love the knife! I actually enjoy the full guard. I got a Reg and a DeReg. I'll dump the DeReg at some point in the future.
 
really enjoying the regulator - the blade is a lot less wide than I was expecting, which is nice. Cant get over how relatively light it is due to this. Love love love the handle - even more comfortable than the mudder grips, imho.

Its like an HG55 on steroids!
