Okay, heres my problem...I just got my MOD CQD Mark VI Stinger...and I'm afraid to use it, as its discontinued..I'm thinking, what if it breaks, what if something happens to it! How am I going to replace such a gorgeous knife?

Any ideas/comments..

That's a pretty tough knife to break doing, well, knife things. Chances are, if you need a prybar, you'll have one. If you don't use it, it may as well be a wall-hanger, as it looks kinda goofy on its own.(I still like the design though.) I'd say put your hard-earned money to use and really push this knife. I doubt it'll disappoint, and MOD has a pretty good warranty even if it does.

:-D Thanks! Yea, I know MOD, their warranty covers pretty much anything...minus abuse as obvious...lol, at least i didnt buy two of them like I did with my BM-42...

Or you could get 20 of these:

it's just a knife what good is it if you don't use it. If you do use it and break it either the manufacturer will fix it or you can always find another. they're tools not art. use it and enjoy it with a clear conscience. later, ahgar

Look at this Benchmade collection that a German knife collector has just sold.
Only 1 or 2 of these knives have been used, all the others are new.

So it seems not unusual that some people rather prefer looking at their knives
than really using them.

knives are made for use. pure and simple, yeah it might be worth more 20 something years from now if you dont use it but then you wouldnt have enjoyed using it for those 20 years. which is more important to you?

i used to baby my emersons until i actually got caught out in extremis and the babying went out the window real quik. use it man and keep it sharp!

I don't think there is anything wrong with owning a knife you don't use.

Sometimes you can just enjoy the beauty of a knife, sometimes you find yourself with an investment piece by chance, etc. Heck, many just collect knives and would never actually use them that much.

If you lose or break it, you will not have it anymore.

If you are afraid to use it, it's like you never had it at all.

You paid for it, right? Is it a good knife? Then it seems like not using it is a waste of money.

It isn't exactly a $10,000 Bill Moran, or a light-use art knife. It's a user.

What the hell good will it be to you when you are ripe and stinky in a pine box?

Throw it into a tree and then go cut some stuff.

Deanimate a cardboard box.

If it makes you feel any better, I was chopping burdock with a $600 sword today. I stuck it in the ground when I wasn't using it.

Life is too damn short to worry about using any knife. If it isn't worth using, it isn't worth buying.
