Ya know, ebay is crapshoot... sometimes you get hosed, and sometimes you get a treasure. Here is a treasure that I just got. It's a SCC 2157 Barlow, 3 3/8" closed, amazing half-stops.

When bidding on this, I thought I was either going to lose it to a higher bid or that I was bidding on junk. The picture was not that great, and usually these barlows go high. If you passed because you saw my name, thanks. :)

I would not consider this mint, but it's as close as you can get for a not new knife. I have only one other Schrade Barlow, a 206. This is a true prize for me at $27 including shipping.

Glenn

You stole that knife! Better send it to me to avoid bad Kharma!! ;) I'm not envious or anything; really I'm not; honest!! I don't need a minty old SCC; who needs one of those things, HAH, not me, nosirreebob!!
;) Nice knife  :D

A Schrade yo-yo grovel? An 8.75 at best. But you're learning! (the guilt trip was a nice touch)

Codger

Glenn, those knives you collect and how you find some great deals-- is impressive!
Waynorth-- that was a grovel worthy of the Schrade forum!

Phil

Thanks Phil and the rest of you...but Phil, don't be so modest. You continually come to the table with some smokin' stuff. You all do!

Just when I think I can sit back rest for a day or two, someone comes on here and says "Hey, look what I found!"...curse you all! :D

As far as a grovel goes, we are all honing our skills on each other. ;)

Glenn

I like barlows here is a old Schrade cut . It is a one blade version you don't see them in real pearl to often and being at least 60 years old it is even harder to find them in new ( old stock condition ). LT

I'm stunned! I can't even grovel! (actually, that's a pretty good grovel!)
Where'd you find that puppy, err- -oyster, err--Barlow, LT!

Who remembers probably a gift from one of the guys I used to butcher deer for since I never took money for doing it. Or else, well, cracker jacks used pack some great free stuff in the boxes. LT

I get the "who remembers" part, especially since I past 60 years :p

It is a strange study, I just did an appraisal for one of the finest Hudson Valley collections in the world an amazing experience. No one has everything and in my heart I feel that is the way it should be. A knife or any artifact is just an object. Steven Hawkens recently stated that our greatest goal should be establishing colonys off planet since there are so many ways that we or the natural order of things will cause our demise that this is our only alternative for continuation of the race. That which was once the raw elements or even the gaseous matter that was an even earlier state may very well return to that, today, tomorrow, or when ever. I like to think of the conservation of history as an intellectual out post manned to the end in the preservation of that which was our legacy both noble and ignoble, kind and vicious what we as a race are or were or will be.

While I did that appraisal I saw items that were like TUTS tomb only visions in a book still I did not covet, but reveled a wonder is a wonder and owning should only be for the ability to let others have the opportunity to have that joy. I realize that it is easy to say this when your belly is full and money does not blind one to the real reason these items and there history are important. A diamond is only a rock of opportunity when a child needs milk.

I would never even in jest upset or lower myself over the loss or the lust for any artifact . I would however give everything I have or could beg or borrow to bring back just one of those who created that history. Since that is not in my power my only alternative is to keep the memorys of these people and there contributions alive. LT

Nice job LT,
When you get a minute fill us in a little more on the collection.
After all these years, I now need to collect old Cracker Jacks for their prizes?
TTYL
Larry

Nothing to fill in . I do a lot of them usually the same price as my butchering of deer. I cannot and will not give up the privacy of these people . But they are out there. Some unfortunately are elderly and virtually give these away. A shame they need the money but are mountain people ( yes upstate NY is not NYC ) ,who trust only whom they want no matter what. That is another story and involves some very prestigious names in the field who have abused that trust. I do have a copy of the insurance floppy ( my photography not great ) but some great footage that I might share if I ever got any visits. AUGUST hint. Stay well Larry how is the kid doing with the chess. Let me know when he wants me to kick his butt in the upcoming Alzheimers battle of champions of course the first question is what is your name if you do not know, then you can play. ( I made it ). LT I think???

My kind of people! Independent, reliable, and the salt of the earth!
My son and I used to fish the upper Deleware and the East Branch around Hancock a lot for trout and shad.If a landowner gave you access and you treated his property and stock as you would want yours treated, they remembered you and you were always welcome.
The idiots who left their trash and broke down fences might be on the receiving end of a warning shot the next time they arrived.
