So, if you didn't already know, my long term 'career' has been working in bike shops. Been doing that since aboot '95. I took a few years away from the bike business and devoted myself to designing and making knives and sheaths in 2020. In March 2024, a new bike shop opened in town- a 30 minute ride from home- and they needed a mechanic. Now, that's what I do. Fix bikes, build of new bikes, etc. In the off season, I concentrate on my design work, knife and sheath making. I still find time here and there even working full time hours to spend time working on my craft.

But this thread is about life in a bike shop, the kind of stuff I see and do that seems noteworthy at the time. Nothing important, just little vignettes because, well...I find it interesting.

Having 5 kids, I’ve worked on a handful of bikes. Just enough to realize that I’m a shitty bike mechanic. 🤔🤣🤣🤣
