scents of ESEEs

Can anybody tell me what makes ESEE blades smell the way they do? I like the smell!

That is the smell of success. And baby tears. It's a weird combo. Actually, that might be pure gasoline, I can't really tell.

Opening some new ESEEs. I can definitely smell something from the Micarta.
This ESEE knife looks worn. The coat line of off and there is some gold glue on the top, as well as a 'deep' scratch on the reverse side of the blade's tip.
