Schatt and Morgan #04431 congress question

Hello , ive recently aquired a S&M 4 blade congress #044431 that is etched with this number and "2004" below it . According to this chart i found doing research http://www.knifeforums.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/815203/nfbb_session_id/bb330e1bdc4c2e999830b99bb6761501/ this is what they are calling a "special order" knife being that its 1of 100 ? If so the box it came with describes the handle as "Mossy" but according to the chart that particular color was not offered for series . Im confused. The handle is not like any color i have seen pictures of for this year . More like a honey ivory/bone with blackish in the jigging (not moss) cant get pictures up at the moment. Can anyone fill me in on this ? Thanks.

That handle material is Winterbotton Jigged bone. You are correct, Queen did not offer Mossy Green in that set of SFO's.

Exactly ! This is whats throwing me , my first thoughts were winterbottom . But unlike others ive seen this one has " no winter on the bottom" (its amber ). To make things more confusing the box ( which i just assume is chronologically correct with the knife) is a brown box with A sticker on the end that says " #044431 s&W Mossy " So i think i got the wrong box with the knife or it really is mossy and its just severly faded out , or wrong box with a faded winterbottom ? Thanks

Correct you are my Friend! :thumbup:
That SFO in `04 was a set of 4 knives, handle material was bone on 3 knives, Golden Root, Mahogany, Burgundy and a Mother of Pearl.
My guess is you have a Golden Root. The pattern # on the box is correct but somewhere down the line it got in a different box.

Thanks for the clarification , i purchased at a pawn shop so that figures ;/ . I paid $80 cash for it , hope i didnt overpay too much . Torn between useing it or putting it in the "collection" hah. Thanks again

I agree, not a bad price. I think I paid the same for my Burgundy version about 8 years ago. I've often thought of carrying mine too but it's just a little too big for my pocket. Awesome pattern though.
