Looks like a good knife. Recent production, I presume. I saw those but ended up buying a#63 Railsplitter with basically the same main blade. I'm currently awaiting a shipping notice. How's the quality on your knife?

its not that theres not a lot love for schatt and morgan, there is. quite a few threads about their QC issues, and returning. Luckily for me, out of the 15-20 schatt and morgans and the few queens ive purchased, only a few had to go back due to cracked scales. Some i decided to mod and fix myself, but they were simple things like trimming the kick. Also because of all the love for GEC, it makes schatt and morgans easier to buy. I do send them as gifts to other friends and members here to enjoy. Welcome to the forums! because of the upgrade, you can simply just add pictures via upload a file

I was just gifted a couple of Schatt & Morgan. Neither of them were remotely sharp. In fact, one was made out of CPM 154 and the darn thing literally was dull as a spoon.

I had to buy a new sharpening set just to get it sharp. That said, now that it has an edge, there are no issues with the knife, fit other finish, and the other, while just as dull, was a basic stainless and it took an edge quickly. No fit or finish issues with it.

Overall, I'd buy another S&M.

but their D2 is a winner, I ebayed a sharpened slim trapper once, nicked my finger just testing the blade

Quality is good the knife slims out about half of blade is half as thick(swedge)maybe. Anyway 1 side is a little different try to get a pick. Might take me another hour

I see what you mean about the uneven swedge grind. A little off but it doesn't look too bad.

I've noticed that Queen is putting out some interesting patterns in the last few months. Especially in the Schatt & Morgan brand. Elk handled Executive Jacks, Jumbo Whittlers, a Whittler on the 99 frame, etc.

It's been awhile since I've checked out anything new from Queen. I'm anxious to see how the fit & finish, walk & talk, and blade grind is on that S&M Railsplitter I just bought. If it's a good quality build, I might explore a few more new Queens.

That's really only problem I could find. Was even semi sharp. Would like to hear if your new Railsplitter is a keeper. Even a pic, would like to see it.

Thanks for the invitation. It is supposed to be here Monday according to the tracking info that updated late last night. I'll share my impressions and some pics when it gets here.

I'm glad to hear that the only issue with yours is the uneven swedge grind. It's a very nice knife. I almost bought one just like it and I still might.

Northfield #77 on left, Queen 69 1/2 on right.
View attachment 720953 I have three Queens & I've been lucky, because the fit & finish on all of them has been great. I have noticed that the tips of the blades are ground thicker than my other knives. I thought it looked funny, so I compared the blade on my new Queen 69 1/2 to my other Barlows. Then I checked my Queen stockmans with other stockmans that I have & they're not tapered down as thin at the tip as my other stockmans, but it's not as noticeable as on the Barlow. They're all still sharp, it just looks a little wonky at first.
