Schatt & Morgan #99 Executive Jack

Handled in Whisky Catilena Jig Bone it's 3 5/8" closed. The steel used on the Wharncliffe Blade is ATS-34 Stainless. Nickel silver pinched and lined bolsters and pinned Keystone Shield.

I just saw one of these on-line and they look very sharp. Single wharny blade, nice size, great looking shield and cool jigging. Although this particular one is in ATS-34, I did see others in 1095.

Does anyone have one and could you shed some light on this cool looking knife?

I am curious as well for an ATS34 version! I had hoped to acquire one like this when in Titusville for the latest GEC weekend but the Queen factory but they did not have any in stock and I did not see any at the Saturday show either.

I don't have one but I like the design too. Kind of a twist on the ultra popular Indian River Jack. Both are single blades on the 99 frame.

I've looked at these Executive Jacks (and the Allegheny Jacks) online a bunch of times but have yet to pull the trigger. I would like to hear some opinions from owners too.

Thanks for bumping the thread, Jack.

I posted earlier in this thread that I had been looking at the Executive Jacks. I purchased one about a month later but forgot to post it here. I like the pattern a lot and I've carried mine on occasion. It's out right now for a professional sharpening but here are some pics.

Blade action is pretty good but it does have that gritty feel that is common for many modern day Queen made knives. Decent snap. Shield is pinned and I really like the blade and swedge. Blade can easily be pinched open.

I liked it so nice, I actually bought the second one they had available as well. so now Ive got two executive jacks pending. Awhile back I had shared on a queen/S&M thread about these 99 frame heritage series that were a bit of a mystery to me as well as others since they might have been a parts knife. Ive found them quite interesting as ive been in a small equal ends kick lately. can't wait till they get here

I remember that conversation about the Heritage Series. I had a Heritage Cattleman that had some problems so I sent it to Glennbad and he converted it to a single blade. Ironically, Queen actually built a model just like my converted version which I believe is the knife that you are referring to. My converted version and your factory version are identical if I'm not mistaken.

Here's my Heritage Cattleman in its before and after states.

that is exactly what it resembled! ive since gifted my ebony ones out but ive seen another one of the jigged bones with a 1095 etch available. however im not sure what the blade steel is on mine, could be 420, or 1095. another splendid job by @glennbad

Railsplitter Railsplitter here is a gift from some of the fellas at the last rendezvous which they scored from Charlie. It's a mod of their harness jack

and became a cigar like 99.

here is that heritage next to it,

can't wait to see what the executive jack has for the stamps, depending on which version might have the steel included like yours does

That "denim" Jack is 1095, Jack! It's nice to see it is still in the "family!!
It used to be a Harness Jack!!:)

thanks Charlie, as a founding member of the slowly growing bunch of cigar pattern knives, a fine gift and fond memory, itll never leave my family of Jacks'

I had one for about a day with gorgeous american elk sides. Beautiful knife, pricey too. Now for the ugly ... blade was terribly off center & it had awful snap that could not be remedied. In my entire knife collecting career, this was the single greatest disappointment I've experienced. Sad to say, I could name 5 other S&M knives that haven't been good enough to keep. Sorry to be a downer, but S&M's in my experience are less likely to be as consistent as even late model Case knives. I'm sure there are good ones out there, but I haven't found a single one yet - I totally quit S&M after 6 bad ones.

gotta chalk that up to bad luck i suppose. ive bought one that was so bad that the blade was protruding out of the box

Rick, that does look very good and the mod to the cattleman is super looking too. There are many great looking knives that have two or three blades but I prefer single blade knives. I'm might have to venture out on one and have it mod to a single blade.

its arrived and how disappointing...

That's terrible! I thought the shields were pinned on all of these. I know it is on my Executive Jack because I can see the pin pressed into the liner in the blade well opposite the shield.

Do you know when this knife was made?

this may have to be from their last batch because this was packaged in the small white cardboard boxes instead of the slightly better quality packaging boxes of the past

Dang!!!!!!!!!!! Is that stag or some burnt bone? Well, how does the rest of the knife look to you?

its stag, the rest is nice, ill see how the other one arrives. i might keep one mint and use the other. seller did say just glue it back or return it for refund... which at the prices i bought them at, i might just use cause Ive been in an equal ends kick recently.
