I just received a Schatt & Morgan #99 with a drop point blade from the File and Wire series. Does anyone know the years of production for the knife? A rep from KSF said they haven't seed the knife in production for a awhile. Thanks

I remember when those came out but I can't pinpoint a year. I'd estimate year of manufacture was 2015, 2016, or 2017 but it's only an estimate.

I don't have a direct answer for you but here is a link to the Queen history website, where you can find most if not all of the catalogs. Research is a big part of the fun.

Dating the post 2000 era Queen knives is very difficult, if you don't find them pictured on the web in what remains of the Queen factory sales literature. And, even more unfortunate, the Queen factory listings, are very incomplete. They made lots and lots of 1 of 100, 1 of 300, etc, did not catalog them, and did not put a date anywhere.

This blade has a date,

this one does not

I know the ironwood slab stockman is a DFC knife. Most DFC period knives have a DFC stamped on the tang, but not all! DFC was the final production, don't remember the date range, was about a year or two.

I was not buying smaller stockman's so I have no records of buying a #99. I am interested only in the 4" or 4.25" size knives, though I did buy some shorter ones at the time, and thus, I have no idea of when the #99 model was around.

This isn't the knife in question but it's a single blade #99 with an ATS-34 Wharncliffe blade that I bought in 2017. My records state that it was made in 2017 but I don't know how or where I got that information. I'm about 90% certain that the Drop Point Stag File & Wire model that the OP is asking about came out shortly after these Wharncliffe models.

Here's a pic I found online of the knife that I'm pretty sure is the knife in question. I found it at a dealer's website whose name I can't mention here. Obviously sold out. The dealer doesn't list a year of manufacture but the specifications for the picture itself say that it was taken "4 years ago".

Queen was bad with dates. I remember a "President's Choice" that came out a year later than the display case said.
