Hi all! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy in quarantine.
My mother-in-law recently gave me this Schatt & Morgan Razor that belonged to her father / my wife's grandfather.
Based on the tang stamp, I believe it to have been made between 1903 and 1932. Could anyone confirm this dating, or give me a more precise idea?
The handle seems like synthetic to me, which is a surprise. I know synthetics have been used for a long time, but it still surprises me to see it on a 100-year-old knife. It also has washers, which I wasn't aware of being a feature on older shaving razors.
Considering its age, I think it might have belonged to my wife's great grandfather also. I use a safety razor that belonged to my great grandfather, so I'm thinking I'm going to keep this likewise as an heirloom that I use and pass on.
Thanks for any help!
