I just started collecting the Schatt & Morgan reproductions by Queen cutlery and they are extremely fine knives of superior quality in my opinion. I really like the antique style in a new mint knife. Any other collectors of these great knives out there?

I have been picking up selected patterns since Queen revived them and have enjoyed owning a few as well as selling some. Every one I have encountered has been very well made and the "File and Wire" tested (usually in ATS 34) have made excellent users.

Enjoy. As far as I am concerned you have picked a great area to collect/use.

I've always liked Queen and have about a dozen of the older Winterbottom Bone Series, I do have a Newer Congress in D2 that I traded for on the forum, it's a regular EDC for me and a great knife at that, if the quality shown with the Congress is any indication of the S&M series, ya can't go wrong.

I'm saving my pennies, as soon as I get enough I think I'll buy a S&M to carry and check out.

Welcome to Blade Forums!

I only have 1 S&M so far, their worm-groove bone Mountain Man folder, but it's a real beauty.

They make a carpenter's whittler that I am inlove with, but it's far down on the list of things to get.

Yes, I collect them. They do a great job on the S&M's! In fact, I collect old Harness Jacks, and I contracted Queen to do a revival of the pattern because no-one has made them since shortly after WWII! They make the Robeson knives for Smoky Mountain also, as well as several other sub-contract knives.

Oh, man, you're the guy? I've been trying to get some money together to get one from Billy. They are gorgeous..And one of the knives higher up on my list.

I've been hearing good things from several people about the S&M's...I have a G&N show by me this weekend and I'm hoping to find some there.

Regards Sonny

Picked up a S&M stockman in ATS-34, and I love it. It goes in my pocket slip probably more than any other slipjoint. Great quality knife IMO.

Billy's a super guy to deal with. He's got the last of my stock, so get it from him, and support Vintageknives.com! If you like Harness Jacks, you should read my article; Knife World, Aug. 05. You can get back issues from them if you missed it. I'm writing another one on punches for next year.

I've got two Railsplitters and a File and Wire Mountain Man Lockback in ATS-34.

These knives are gorgeous and the beauty of many of the bone handle patterns makes me drool. They also use some of the most splendid sambar stag I've seen.

I just wish they didn't make most of their knives in 420HC. Especially considering most of the Queen offerings are in D2. It makes it seem like they are designed to be looked at instead of used. Don't get me wrong, 420HC is a servicable steel, especially in a slipjoint, but I think you shoud be able to expect more in a knife that will probably set you back $100 or more.

However, overall I agree with the previous posts. They are things of beauty and I'm sure I haven't purchased my last one.

I've only tried the File and Wire Series but I've been nothing but impressed. I have the lockback and trapper, and finally was able to bring my father into the modern steel era (he doesn't like these "new style" knives) with the Baby Sunfish.

I hope Queen doensn't let this line go--their fit/finish/attention to detail rivals the best of the old German slipjoints that I have from my Grandfather. I've always been a traditionalist at heart, anyway. :)

I'm a big Schatt &Morgan fan. I have a few of these knives but not nearly what I would like to have.:D

The carpenter's whittler and barlow are 420HC. The English jack and the gunstock are the File & Wire ATS-34.

I saw that English Jack on Cumberland Knife Works' page the other day, it's definitely on the "get it soon" list.
