Love it!! To me the design doesn't seem like something I'd use, but I'd sure throw that puppy in my safe :) looks stellar!

Beautiful knife, but odd design. Not sure how comfortable that reverser curve on the handle would be.

Here is what the seller said about this gem.

"As far as the history of the knife, it dates back to about nine years ago IIRC. Ed Schempp will bring prototype knives to Spyderco for consideration for production, and in this case the three knives were crafted at about the same time. Two were left with blank sides (no scale), and the third had a mammoth ivory scale attached. All three were sent to the engraver, two were engraved and returned to Spyderco/Ed Schempp, and the third was left with the engraver as renumeration for services rendered. I obtained the knife from the engraver, as they weren't much into knives at the time. As I understand it, because of the shape of the blade resembling a dinosaur's head the knife was referred to as the "Zoic" (Mesozoic, Cenozoic, etc.). While it has yet to be produced by Spyderco there has apparently been talk of releasing it in their subsidiary Byrd line of knives. If I think of any other information I will let you know - I think I might still have the original photos of the engraved knives somewhere and will forward them if I find them."

Can either Sal or Ed confirm the knive's history?

To my eye, that looks like a (very, very beautiful) variation of Schemp/Spyderco Khukuri folder:

Not a Spyderco knife; moved to The Gallery: Your place to post pictures of your knives - Art Knives, One-of-a-kind Customs, Tacticals, or Heirlooms.

That looks like a version of the ladyfinger, am I correct?

I have never seen the ladyfinger so I couldn't answer that.

I found a possible mention of it in a post from Ed regarding the 2009 Oregon Knife Collectors Association Show in Eugene Oregon.
Quote taken from the Spyderco.com Forum "As I have not made any hawk bills in the past, so I made two models, both from Damascus steel. One is an all steel framelcok and the other has matching bolsters and mamoth ivory scales."
