I know this isn't a new knife, but after seeing it in the 2014 catalog, I'd kind of like to own one, the blade profile, at the very least strikes me as interesting, but VG-10 isn't too terrible for a fixed blade either, from what I understand. I've read a bit about, but am curious as to if anybody else thinks highly of it, or is interested in giving it a try. It seems substantial, but not over built. Really I just like the aesthetics alone.

I have a rock salt, and I absolutely love it. It is an excellent camp knife, the ergos are great for multiple hand positions, and the overall blade feels like there is almost nothing in your hand.

The Schempp rock is a VG10 rock salt, so I'm sure it's great too.

This is on my "Some Day" list.. Not to sure if I like the sheath but the knife is KOOL!! John

I have the rock with vg10. I like the knife a lot, the ergos are fantastic and is has several very comfortable grips possible. It is also surprisingly lightweight especially for the size ofknife that is is. My issue is the blade shape, just because that shape is hard to sharpen, at least with my level of sharpening ability and the tools I have available.
I do almost wish it had a little more heft to it, the thing is like a feather.

Yeah recurves can be tricky, but not impossible to sharpen. Still I like the subtle Khukri sort of blade. I can understand wanting more heft to the blade, but I was wanting something on the skimpier side, actually, to take on spur of the moment woods bumming. Seems like it would fill a niche for me. It's something I think I'd like.

It's my car knife, in case I get stranded somewhere. I also use it camping and it's been great so far.

Echoing what SolidState said-- feels great in the hand and is really light for a knife that size. It's no secret that Mr. Schempp knows what he's doing (except I still cannot get into the dimples on the Tuff's G-10 slab). ;)
