This is a feather damascus pattern that didn't quite turn out how I expected. At first I was disappointed but then I thought I would go with the flow as it were. I figured I might as well celebrate the serendipity of it, hence the wire inlay. Hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you think. Todd

Hi Todd, Very cool! Dragons breath!!
Greg
Your play with the inlays bring the schizo side out.....wait which side:)

Disappointed? It shows I really know very little about Damascus cause to me it looks beautiful!
Thanks for sharing.

Love the knife. Love the name a little less. The wire inlay reflecting the different patterns on either side of the blade was an inspired choice. Sometimes things don't work out for the better.

This is a beautiful creation. Such lovely lines and colors.

I understand your disappointment but I also understand 'going with the flow'... which I think is a reasonable path if the result is beautiful and organic. You WANT to have control... but sometimes you don't. :-)

This recalls my laminated boot dagger that I posted on here last year that had two different sides due to an error I made in fullering. I 'went with the flow' because both sides were beautiful, the customer loved the result... yet... it was also 'out of control' which lingers a bit.

Very nice.....I enjoy the knife I got from you sometime back, reminiscent in shape.

Looks to me it worked out mighty fine, love the wire, nice touch.
Cheers Keith

Thanks for the comments. After my initial disappointment I am really happy it turned out this way. It got me thinking a little less rigidly. The only thing is whether i could ever recreate it. Maybe somebody who knows more about damascus could. One clue is that the laminations don't run straight down the spine. They bleed off which I think might explain the more organic side. And Roger, I'm not sure how much I like the name either. :)
