Hey Gang.
My son recieved a 52K scholarship for Valpo university now we are returning for a second round of interviews for more money. This is a new experience for him as well as myself.

Have any of you experienced this and what type of questions should he be prepared to answer.

Valporaiso Indiana? That's an art school right?

Just tell him to be his normal charming self.

I've had much to do with scholarships, particularly Rhodes scholarships, over the years.

Sadly, it was all about tecchie scholarships -- hard science and harder math.

I don't think I can help here. But, I've asked a friend to inquire a bit. If they can help, they will post here.

But, I can keep my fingers crossed for Ren's boy!:D

You should be prepared to address the financial need if you haven't already gone through that. Your son should be prepared to discuss why he wants to attend that school, what parts of its curriculum attract his interest, etc. - even if he likes a policy like not having to declare a major until after a couple of years, he should be ready to describe why that policy is beneficial to his plans and situation. Good luck!

Oh, that's always good advice.

If your son is aware of any particular faculty members he admires ... a little research on their work ... a few mentions in the interview. That tends to go well.:)

I'd fight the urge to sell him/her a Celtic butt plug or try to leave some brochures in the office when you leave. Just avoiding the phrase "Celtic butt plug" or general ass related items should be left out until the 3rd interview at least.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

He shoud tell them exactly what they want to hear, even if it is a lie. That is, unless lying would put him in legal trouble, then don't do it. Basically he should just be a brown nose.
For example:Q: "Why do you want to go to this school?"
A: "Well I found this school a year ago and it is by far, the nicest I have looked at." (even if it was not the first choice)

However if the question were: "Are you a veteran?"
Answering (assuming that he is not a veteran), "Yes," would be a very bad idea.

Also for all colleges in general, ask questions, questions, and more questions. They are all out to get your money and will say just about anything to get it. If you don't really research the school you could end up getting royally screwed like I did.

Have him do some research into WHY it is one of the best meterological schools in the nation. Have they updated anything lately? New research or buildings for meterology? Any new department heads, and what are their special interest of research? Why will going to Valpo make him better than going to any other university. By going to Valpo how can he achieve greatness that will reflect positively on the university? What does he know about their school and why is he a much better fit for them asw a student than anyone else.

And, of course your mention of your plans to purchase the RTDTB DOPPLER WEATHER SYSTEM foe them could not hurt!
