Dan

just to catch every body up, at each meeting of the GA custom knife makers guild one of the members donates a knife that we raffle off with proceeds going to a scholarship. For this meeting Andy was asked to make the knife and given my wood working back ground he asked me to make a presentation box. In keeping with the theme of the knife I used blood wood and black canvas micarta. Keeping in the spirt of the raffle I bought a ticket, won the raffle and brought both back to Fiddleback forge/ Dogwood knife works wear they belong.

Congratulations Dan! That is one awesome knife and box! You did a nice job on the box! Can't wait to see when you do some forging!

Step one: Appeal to Andy's giving nature and get him to make a sweet knife.
Step two: Make a sweet box to put said knife in.
Step three: Rig the contest so that you get both.

I am on to you Dan.... on to you...

KH......you don't want to see Dan forge......trust me.

You can come to Trackrock Hammer-in #20 the end of March and watch, but bring dark glasses and some BC Powders.

now Carl you may wont to be carful how far out you go, because what i may lack in skill I tend to make up for in determination.

I think TF is on to something there......explains why you were always carrying it around "for Andy" at the meeting and looked a little concerned when I said I already had James Mitchell set up to lazer engrave my name on the box. HHmmmmmmm.......

You should know....mashing a 2" ball baring into a bowie knife is a lot more than a "determination" issue.

Carl I have ben making knives for 9 months and only fore of those wear full time. I go to bed reading about knives I wake up thinking about knives, I am learning more and getting better every day. Their is no question you are a better knife maker to day, and will be tomorrow, my point is I will stay after it and one day you may not be able to say that. My only concern is that at your age you may not be around long enough to see it.

Ouch!
I'll still be around, unless you have Dylan bushwack me.

OK KH, just remember......it's your eyes and mind! Maybe I can convince someone to VT Dan forging at Trackrock or you can load your mule and come on down for a look see. You'd surely be welcome and entertained.

Cark, I should probable admit that after suffering the imbarisment of my last proformance at trackrock I have ben practicing. I am still not in the class pf that blond headed prodagee of your but I can usually hit in the same place twice. For those that can make it track rook is a grate event, a grate place for any one with a interest in forging to get a I depth look and ask all the questions they can.

I think Scout is in a league of his own......but hey, he started when he was 4 1/2, so he's been smithing blades half his life now! It sure is a delight to stand back and watch him do it all by himself. I learn stuff just watching him work. He's one of the few "little guys" that doesn't have "sword fever". He knows his game plan before he steps up to the anvil.

Easy on yourself Dan, you were in rough company. Dylan was no prize with a hammer. Andy has potential if he'd just go ahead and hit it!
