School me on 425m

I grew up using the first version Bucklites. From my understanding they were 425m?
I'd just like more info/experiences/qualities of this steel from the experts. I seem to gravitate toward Bucks using this steel, I think mostly because it was all I knew and used growing up. I just seem to get along well using it for my needs.

425m was used from approximately '82 to '92. My first Buck knife was an 1987 422 BuckLite. Still have it.
It seems to hold an edge for a very long time.

I've got a couple of different models in 425M and like it just fine.

425M is a good steel. It fits in between 420HC and 440C, in many departments.
