Recently moved and I'm now lakefront. Every day if the sun is still up when I get home from work I jump on my kayak and hit the lake. It's time to step up my rod game.

Walking through Wal Mart a couple weeks ago I saw an Abu Garcia Revo S on clearance for like $60, so I got it and love it. I'd been wanting to try a baitcaster to switch things up. Then at Sports Authority I saw an Abu Vendetta on clearance for $20. Got that too and am underwhelmed. It's an ok rod but is lacking in sensitivity. With my Tarvos I can feel every little thing my bait does, not so with the Vendetta. Also, it's a 6'6 and I prefer a 7'. Well my brother in law wants the Vendetta so now I'm on the hunt to replace it.

I am looking at the St Croix Triumph in a 7' MH. I have heard ST Croix is the poop so I was going to go that way but haven't heard much about the Triumph, which seems to be their budget line? So I'm wondering who has used one. Or if there is something else I should be looking at in the same price range?

Types of fishing I do:

-Mostly bass, occasional Crappie when I run across them, Gar when I can get them to bite
-I love spinner baits and the occasional top water
-I'm running 10# Powerpro Super 8 Slick if that makes a difference

Well, went to Dick's and ended up getting a really good deal on a St Croix Mojo Bass 7' MH. Problem solved!

You won't be disappointed with the mojo. A lot of guys in Massachusetts use the bigger mojo's for plugging for striped bass in the canal. St.croix makes a great fishing rod. I have a 9 wt fly rod by st.croix and it is a beast!

Well I swapped the Revo to it and took it out today and I like it much better than the Vendetta. MUCH more sensitive and just a better overall feel.
