School me on my first Busse

I currently have a TGLB with competition finish/tan micarta on order, which will be my first piece of infi ordered directly through Busse. I did however own a basic 4 with tan res-c that had a satin finish and razor sharp fully convexed edge (ebay purchase). That knife was numbered (#13) and was just a great all around camp/utility/bushcraft type knife, and I would love to get another some day. First question- Was it part of a limited edition run? Second question- What does the tang look like under the res-c handle?

Yes teh B4LE was a limited run, they do seem to turn up with regularity on the exchange though. My Anorexic B4 has been in my pack on each and every hunting adventure since I got it...!!!

Somewhere in past threads there are some photos of x-ray's on Res-C handled knives. Run a search in this and the Swamp Rat forum and you should find some. They don't all look identical under the Res-C, but they are all similar.

Just have to ask, did you pick up the fatty or the skinny version?

I was the original owner of the #13 fatty, it was "sharpened" by Beef

Needless to say, it was as sharp as a 2x4

:D

Is that the one you cut yourself with at Knkb Creek a few years ago?

Nope, as memory serves, I cut myself on Monte's Hinderer (which that was used so he probably since has sold) when I was sharpening it and.....maybe my NMSFNO. My chunky 13 never made it down there. Then again, I've been cut by so many knives they all kind of look the same. At least I didn't pull a Trevor

Thanks for confirming my suspicion!

Thanks for the tip, I was able to see the x-ray image as well as a real world pic of the tang.
Great blade. Hope you are able to find another one soon.

Thanks Garth, it really was a great knife. I'll make it a priority to get another one for sure. BTW if you are the infamous "Beef", I have a drawer full of knives that need your attention!:D Seriously though, I envy your sharpening/profiling skills.

As a matter of fact it was the fatty version I owned. How about that! Thanks for passing her along in such great condition, she was a looker, and a user to boot! I suppose in some small way I have you to thank for my infi addiction lol.

Good luck! I hope you find what you are looking for  The Basic 4 is an awesome blade! The Res-C handles are sooo comfortable :D
