I bought my father a Griptilian for X-mas. Ended up liking it enough to want one for myself... Really like the hole the 550HG offers... but have been eying the Ritter Grip for the blade material/shape... for the extra ~50 or so dollars... is it worth it? Anyone have issues with the lack of full liners? I love the size of the blade, but it does not feel nearly as solid as even my 710... (I wish wilkins grips were not so expensive!)... any input is appreciated...

I prefer the high flat grind of the Ritter Grip over the regular issue. Sure, both will cut, but I prefer S30V over 154cm and love the stonewashed finish on the Ritter.

Given the Noryl GTX scales are hollow and the liners on the full size are partial, it makes the knife a little blade heavy and the resulting "CLACK" sound the thing makes (and all regular Grips make for that matter...) takes getting used to...but it also makes for a very strong combination of blade and handle.

In closing, it's late...I prefer the Ritter design over the regular, for me the blade makes all the difference and worth the extra money spent.

If you want to pay $150 they have the Ritter (from aeromedix) in m4 steel on which makes it all the better. There will only be 270 made and I think it's worth it. If it goes anything like the m2 version did they will sell for much more when they're no longer available.

I like the Ritter Grips more than the "standard" Griptilians.

Just like the blade shape more.

If you can swing it, the M4 version will probably be a good investment, either as a user or as a collectable. I use my Mini M2 Ritter Grip more than any other mini knife I own and I expect the M4 to perform at least as well based upon my experience with M4.

In addition to the Wilkins scales, there is also cuscadi.de making some nice scales.

Thanks for the info, I have signed up to pre-order the m4 ritter... figure if i don't like it I should atleast get my money back out of it.
