I saw a pic and they looks interesting. What are the specs? When can we expect to see them?

There was supposed to be a real nice Dozier folder(was even a featured article and proto in one of the knife mags),kind of a variation on the thorn, well that was about 3 yrs.ago ,I don't put too much stock in Dozier collabs. or most proto knife hype,I was also waiting anxiously for esee dc6 (Dave Canterbury lore knife)now that looks like a no-go as well.

Shootist16,

The Dozier Arrow will be available sometime in the first quarter of 2016. We had first piece production samples at the SHOT Show.
It has a D2 stonewashed or black coated blade and G-10 handles (with no liners). Because of that, it is very lightweight and it disappears in the pocket.
MSRP will be around $75 give or take and retail will probably be $60 or so. This knife fixes a lot of the minor issues of the old KA-BAR Dozier Thorn.
Hope this helps.

jstrange,

OVL: 8-3/16" BL: 3-5/8" Real positive feedback from all at SHOT.

wallaby7747,

We got a Carter Prime hard sample at SHOT. It is sweet. (You'll just have to take my word for it.) Robert Carter is stoked, so is proud papa, Joe Pardue...so are we.
Prime MSRP: approx. $145 Should be available mid second quarter. (We think April) Should be ready for Blade Show.

Hope this helps.

Hi Guys,

The Dozier Arrow has shipped! Some fun facts on the Dozier - it weighs less than 3 ounces and has a D2 blade and G10 scales.

How thick is the liner? Does anyone have any pics besides the stock photos?

I can't believe no one has one of these yet. My only complaint from looking at the stock photos is the arrow that's milled into the g-10. I think it would look better without it. Still on my shortlist though.

There's actually no liner. The G10 scales are very strong, so the liners were skipped. That's where the incredible light weight comes from. There's a little bit of flex to the handle if you squeeze hard enough, but I've been carrying one since the day they came in and I'm thrilled with it. The liner lock is mounted right to the inside of the scales. I took a quick picture to give you an idea:

I bought one and returned it. As Ontario states, the liners do flex. Just a slight squeeze (particularly near the butt of the knife) caused flex. The addition of just one more pillar (or the use of a spacer) would firm up the knife. The liner lock is thin and weak. I couldn't see a stop pin for the blade; it looked like there was groove milled out in the scale and maybe a pin travels in the groove to stop the blade? Can someone chime in and tell me what is used for a blade stop?

On the positive side, the looks, grind, and overall style of the knife was top-notch. The knife came very sharp. I liked the way the thumb stud nestled into the scale but was still accessible.

I understand that this was not intended to be a hard use heavy duty knife, but the problem is that the flimsiness of the knife did not inspire confidence that the knife was intended to be actually used.

Thank you for the feedback, sorry you weren't impressed. We figured going in that this wasn't for everyone. I'm a little surprised at how easy you found it to make the scales flex, but it's a fair point. I haven't seen any issues with the liner lock. As for the blade stop, now you're asking smart guy questions and I'm going to have to light the Toooj signal and get back to you.

This knife is definitely not an XM or even a RAT, but I love the light weight and slim profile. If I'm outside or know I have more heavy duty work, it usually gets a day off. That said, it's still got our warranty and it has taken a bit of abuse for me.

Thank you for your reply.

It is so close to being a great knife. Either slightly thicker scales or the addition of just one more standoff would fix everything. The blade stop may be fine, it is just that I can't exactly see how it works. I think it is a pin on only one side of the blade riding in a groove in the scale, but I could be wrong (I didn't want to take it apart since I was returning it).

There aren't many knives like this on the market; it fills a void and I hope I am wrong about the issues I brought up.

I just got the Arrow today, seems great so far. It's a bit bigger than I expected, but sits in the hand nicely. Need to carry it a bit so the G10 smooths out a bit, as it is quite rough right now. The lack of liners doesn't bother me too much, the flex is not noticeable. It's not a hard use knife, but a lightweight folder with good steel, and it works great in that role. Would be nice if Ontario released a smaller model of it, the size of the RAT 2, I think that would work quite well given how lightweight it is. There aren't any small D2 folders out there, especially at this price point, so I think that a smaller Arrow would be quite popular.
