Anyone have fond memories of these short musical numbers, sandwiched in between saturday AM cartoons back in the 70's? My sister got the official DVD for my daughter's 3rd birthday last November, and she's been watching them non-stop. It's been a pleasure for me as well, brings back a lot of memories from the day. And I have a new-found appreciation for some of the music and lyrics. Some songs stay in my head for days. Some favs: I'm Just A Bill, Electricity, Verb (That's What's Happenin'), and Adjectives. What are your most-remembered tunes?

I'm just a bill was classic!! As was the great American melting pot ( though that is no longer the accepted view)

Conjunction Junction, what's your function? Hookin' up phrases and words and clauses.

Take your powder, take your gun, report to General Washington, hurry boys there's not a moment to lose. Well, the shot heard 'round the world was the start of the Revolution.

Mother necessity, where would we be?

Frank

I bought the complete DVD a few years ago. For the kids...YEAH! Darn, that the end...

what about that commercial for a hunka cheese?

I saw it again on family guy the other night.

I bought the VHS tapes way back in mid-nineties along with CD box set and the one CD where alot of the songs were remade by current rock & punk bands. I think it's called Shoolhouse RockS or something like that. Yeah, I'm a fan.

Wow, thanks for the link! And my sister has that CD, it's OK. She also has that CD of all the saturday morning cartoon theme songs redone by rockers. My favorite: the Johnny Quest theme done by the Reverend Horton Heat.

I think it speaks VOLUMES that among my high school graduating class (in '90), when called on in government class to recite the preamble to the Constitution, roughly 85% of us broke out in song.

:p

I also like the Gravity song, but I have the DVD and my boy was watching them before he was 3. By God, if the schools ain't gonna teach 'em anything anymore, I'LL DO IT MYSELF!!!

With a little help... ;)

I know. I was just telling my wife that if a TV skit can ingrain something like that in my brain for the last 30+ years, they must have been doing something right. When we put in the DVD for the first time, I sung along to that one, and my wife was pretty impressed. Sadly, that's the only significant part of any of the others that I remembered. But yeah, I like the gravity song (Victim of Gravity). Also like the one about Mr Horton, and the one about the nervous system. Can't forget Zero, My Hero either. I could go on...

I'm just a Bill was my all time favorite.
