Can't seem to find any info about it-could someone please enlighten me?
Much thanks for your knowledge and assistance!

A 128OT did not exist to my knowledge. Unless it is a new production.

And yes, it was found. A Taylor import.

This knife is a small 3 blade stockman, and I like you can find nothing on it-there is new production of this knife?

Do you have a picture of it? Are the handles wood by any chance?

Eric

Ah, never mind, found it. Taylor Brands has a 128OT. It's new production, maybe even out this year. 3 15/16" stockman, like the 8OT.

Eric

The only "128OT" marked knife that I am aware of is a "Sheep horn" handled knife imported from china by Taylor Brands Limited Liability Company. Is this it?

Thanks, I quess that would be it! I purchased that model on evil-B sight unseen. Probably my mistake!

Well, this forum is for collectors of knives made by the company Imperial Schrade (and it's affliliates and predecessors) which ceased to exist in July of 2004, but many if not most collectors of these knives have been fooled at on point or another by these imported knives with "Nostalgia Marks". Some were even made here in the States under license from Taylor. I don't know of anyone here who collects them, but it behooves collectors of the real deal to learn to recognize them and their distinguishing charitoristics if they wish to avoid purchase mistakes, or help other, newer collectors to do so.

What are some of the tell-tale signs that a new collector like myself should learn to watch out for?

Recently received my purchase and to my delight it was a USA SCHRADE 108; guess the seller couldn't read the stamp. So as to stay on topic of collecting the real Schrade this would qualify nicely as a collector!

Examine photos of knives on eBay (even if you don't buy there) and look at teh construction details and markings. ISC (Imperial Schrade Corporation) never used ironwood, buffalo horn, or rams horn as handle material. Most of their tang markings included "U.S.A." (not all) and the new imports never do, though some post closing knives were made under Taylor license in the U.S. and do have those markings. Oftem, the imported knives will only have "SCHRADE" om the mark side of the blade and the pattern on the other side. I haven't seen the Taylor knives use the ISC "+" mark to indicate stainless blades yet, but ISC didn't always either.

Packaging can be another sign, if sellers bother to show it.

Or... you can post a photo or link here and just ask.

On Australian PeeBay a lot are listed from America as that is where they are being sold from but are not made in America . I bought some to compare . There is no comparison at all . Tested what they call a Big Man and another congress type on a raw hide or Green Hide that was dry . Started a free hand run ,had the liners and scales all moving , stretching, twisting in my hand then with the blade flexing and wobbling I honestly thought it was going to break apart in my hand .Or the blade was about to snap . Had to stop my Raw Hide test .
I listed them all honestly on Peebay everybody had a laugh as I coverted $50 to $5 on every one of them . My rule of thumb is if they don't say where there made they are Shitrades for sure . As most sellers of" USA Schrade " are proud of their High quality master craftsman American made products and will be more than happy to let you know that . I am anyway ,when I was 7 yrs old with my first pocket knife 897uh,paperwork ,flyers etc you would think I would be a bit upset and bias to the other shitrades ,thats why I bought and tested ,then found out there was no need to be bias as they speak for themselves .

Most of us here who have wound up with them have been able to tell the quality of F&F, W&T with a simple coon-fingering and chicken-eyeing. I don't regret not trusting my fingers to the few I have wound up with.

ETA: If there are collectors of Schrade branded Taylor knives reading this, I'll make you a deal for real on a few. I can't give them away to Schrade collectors. I haven't even had any luck tricking them into taking them in trade.

Respectfully . I would buy anything from you .As long as it had the Codger stamp of approval. Some poor trade Butcher sent me a email 2 days ago ,very upset as he handed over $250 on Peebay for a group of what he thought to be the real USA Schrade. The poor bloke wanted some nice old American knives to hand down to his sons . We are in the process of swapping his fathers authored Vietnam War poem books for a real Schrade .
I suppose it would be hard to be a Shitradeaholic.

Thats why in the last 7 months I have been trying not to say anything.
Another 20yrs on this forum will either fix me or make me worse.

Just have to let some photo's do the talking and keep my comments minimal .
Would be nice to see a reunite thread just for all the workers of pre 2004 Schrade here.
When I was a little kid I was trying to work out how they made my 897UH while other kids were jumping off tank stands with caps on and their undies on the outside .

Off topic, I know, but that 897UH is my favorite every day carry knife. Looking for a replacement is what led me to this forum a few years back. I have a lifetime supply now. And a good array of variants. But no camera so you'll just have to use your imagination. Here is an old scan of a few of them.

And this is what they look like when you take them apart.

This is how they advertised them back in the day.

Codger thanks mate you made me drool and even a tear in my eye they are my favorite and everyone laughs at me for when I was little 7 yr old I bagged horse shit for months ,got my dad to drop me off with a horsefloat full of freshly bagged shit at the busy road on the weekend . I'd put my horeshit 20c a bag signs out Thats Australian $ too . Cars would go past ,pretty girls jeering me and having a laugh as they drove past . But I stayed at it held my head up and thought of my new pocket knife that I would be allowed to pick out and buy .
At the local saddlery/produce I picked out that 897 UH for $12 Australian ,I worked hard to save this money and was faily manly & serious of this transaction . I argued with the produce merchant that this knife is second hand .He told me it was mint in box . I told him but it has somebody else name on it . He said it didn't . I said yes ut has it says Uncle Henry on the shield . He looked at me and laughed and laughed ,he couldn't talk when I asked him what he was laughing at . I was serious . He told me after a while that it was the line or brand and handed me a heap of flyers with all the price lists . I aked him where I was going to fit my name them being red faced and embarrased . I collected those Schrade Flyers for years . After I bought that knife I didn't bag horseshit for anyone else but my mom . I never sharpened that knife, I respected it to much and saw what I could do to a mora fixed blade after idiot hitting it on a bench grinder ,made a nice leather sheath for it though . I graduated to selling something else and working /hr after school . Funny thing is I still use the same abilities I used to sell horseshit as I do knives ,the only difference is i'm proud of the knives .
Thankyou Codger for the above ,I still have my first 897UH and have given it to my eldest son as I pledged to do when I was 7 . I have bought two more mint in box of UL for my two youngest sons . Might have to get some for my 3 daughters as well.
regards Jamo
