Hi all, I was just given this little gem of a knife from someone who found it buried in their garage. I've found some information on this Schrade 152 Sharpfinger but I'm curious if it is the U.S. made version considering it has U.S.A. on the blade and wondering what type of steel it might be. The guy who gave it to me thinks it is 20 or 30 years old but the thing looks brand new! From what I found, Schrade made these from 1974 to 2004 and then went out of business and then these were made in China until 2007? Also, thinking about treating the sheath with a mix of beeswax and neatsfoot oil and want to hear thoughts on that as well. Thanks.

There is no option to download pictures on here or otherwise I would.

You need an image hosting site. Imgur is good. Download your pics there, select your pic and copy the link for "forums and bulletin boards" and paste it here.

I owned this model #152 sharp finger, I picked up in 1978 at a knife shop in LA, calif. sorry I ever let it go, from what I can tell the USA made ones are really hard to find now, hang on to yours, I saw your post and had to say something.

I purchased a USA Deerhunter (XL Sharpfinger) at Walmart in the early 90s. I agree. They are very collectable, but not worth too much. If you wipe it down once or twice a year, and after handling, it shouldn't rust. Store out of it's sheath. I used mink oil on my sheath.

I hunted with a Sharpfinger for years... pound for pound, dollar for dollar one of the finest hunting knives I've ever had the pleasure to use.

The value isn't in how much it's worth monetarily... the real value is in how it performs. If you are a hunter, you've been blessed with a fine user.

You should keep it.

Thanks. Yes I'm into bow hunting now and this would definitely be a nice skinner, I can tell by just handling it. That's also why I like the Buck 110. Very similar to the 152 Sharpfinger. I always have a '80-'81 3 dot 110 on my belt now.

Thanks. Yes, I'm digging the look and feel of it. Just wish they had a stamp somewhere like Buck does so I could pinpoint the year.
