schrade 152 sharpfinger

Ever since I was a kid (and thats a long time ago lol) I have wanted one of these. Used to look at 'em in the display case all the time. The funny thing is I never bought one. But I can see where its one of your faves. are they carbon or stainless?

I have one that was my dad's. It was hanging in the shop for years in the original sheath. I own the shop and thus the knife now. It was a get work knife all these years.

I like them. They have a good feel in hand and aren't to big IMO.
IIRC, all the U.S 152's are Carbon. I do have a U.S Uncle Henry Sharpfinger ( it has a different name, but I can't remember what it is) and it is SS. Can't give you an honest opinion of the SS as it hasn't been used. I'll stick with the old Carbon for a user.

I have 2 knives in this style which I find quite old timesy and attractive. One is marked Camillus, New York, U.S.A. on the blade with 'GRAN'PA' on a steel shield of the brown delrin, I believe, saw cut handle. It has a stainless blade with a brushed finish. The other's blade is marked Schrade U.S.A. 502SC with a cream coloured , plastic handle and a carbon steel blade.
I much prefer the Schrade as both blade and handle have a lovely 'melted' finish like the proverbial bar of soap.

I've had one in carbon steel for many years. Classic knife.

I have a carbon one too. Like Blues said, it's a classic. It is also incredibly tuff. I would have liked a more generous hand size though. I felt that the handle size was the restricting factor of that knife. Granted, the knife was designed as a skinner. I believe that it would have been some much more.

God Bless
