I just got in the mail a Schrade + USA LTD 162 blank, and it is really in good shape. This one is going to get the custom finish with some really nice scales. It has probably already been through Heat Treat so I may have to forget the file work. I got it off Ebay for $3.01 and $6.99 postage for an even 10 dollar bill. Good place to start for a nice knife.

A nice blade at a nice price! I have two, one being the finished DU knife with gold filled etch, and the other being a new standard production knife. I hope to get to try it out this year on a deer, along with the other knives lined up to be tested. It should make a fine custom knife for you. I don't know if it will be too hard to file or not. Be sure to let us see it when you "get-er-done"!

LT., Codger, Larry, Del, et al: This 162 is supposed to have "series 400 stainless steel". Any idea what that might be similar to in plain English? Thanks.
