I just received a mint Schrade 167UH with sheath(also mint). My question is, there is a metal liner in the sheath. Is that supposed to be there? It seems if you put the knife in the sheath the metal would scratch the blade and since the blade on the knife is perfect I don't want to put the knife in the sheath with the metal liner-whew! I wouldn't store the knife in the sheath anyway. Thanks.

When they made the knife, they figured it would be used and sharpened, and the sheath would serve as storage, at lease when being worn on a belt. Good you noticed it was down in there. Some of them came with a little cork on the tip to prevent tip damage (or injury). I suppose they had a few cases where a knife poked through the sheath (I've done it) and they figured putting in the metal protector would prevent that from happening.
