I have an older unused one with box. Any idea of the value?

The best I can do is suggest to take a look on that famous auction site for said knife, closed and active auctions and use your best judgement, note the NIB models seem to be kind of, shall I dare say cyclical in prices? Some one else may chime in w/ more insight so hang in there.

Is it a brown box with felt covered cardboard (oldest) or a a spongy liner? Is it a three line stamp? Those have been kind of up and down, but the liner locks are pretty popular. I've seen them go for anywhere between $25.00 and $60.00.

The box as neither the felt or spongy liner (??). It has a two-line stamp and of couse the brass liner.

The Brown "Woodgrain" boxes felt covered cardboard liners and the 3-line stamps were the oldest 194OT versions. Those ones came out in 1976. As a knife, I don't think they were necessarily better than the newer releases, but the larger older boxes generally bring a higher price. You could probably find this knife, the Gunstock Trapper, in five different box styles. It was made up until the end in 2004. The ending retail price was around $31.00. I've seen boxes with the "Sharp Idea" motto, in Tan and Black, that had an $18.00 sticker on them.

As I recall, retail in August 1984 was $26. It wiped out the change I had from a $50 bill, after buying a hunting license and 2 boxes of shells.

Dagnabbit, you made me dig out my journal to see if my mind was slipping. What is worse is that it is!

I could have sworn I bought that knife in August of '84 in Chadron NE. Turns out I bought it a couple months later after some of my gear was misplaced while on a caribou trip in the Yukon. I had the numbers right, don't recall if I paid in Canadian or USD.
