This lil beauty arrived today...now ..Im asking out of interest only and for my own curiosity.
Are there bone versions as well as Delrin? This I bought because I wanted the peachseed bone...but I think it might be Del.
No drama its a beaut little knife and as new but which is it...
Pics in daylight tomorrow..plus Ill be in touch with the vendor who is a good guy who will likely give me a hefty discount off my next purchase....if it turns out that he sold a del knife as bone....anyhow as I said Im not really bothered but would like to know...and yeah the 10 yo thread on Schrade sub forum didnt tell me much...except..Schrade did the best most bony looking del ever.
Cheers.

The Chunk is your man, he can show you many pictures of Schrade peach seed bone handled knives. They offered both over the years. OH

Thanks OH...im feeling like I should be driving a psychadelic van with 2 girls a great dane and a scrawny dweeb...or should that be a handsome blonde football type and me as the scrawny dweeb? :D.either way its a mystery that needs solving.lets ee what tomorrow brings.

There were not many peachseed delrin schrades, usually that was on ulster’s and craftsman’s.

Here is a delrin 233 with the “wavy” jig. A bone one will have a walden stamp.

Take a look at the top or bottom edge of the handles. Delrin will be flat and consistent in color as shown below. Bone will have little canals and pores.

Peachseed bone on the left and wavy bone on the right. If it’s wavy bone it will most likely have a red tint, whether light or dark. Delrin is normally some shade of brown.

The way the color lightens near the bolsters is usually a sign of delrin.
Not necessarily.
I have a few with bone covers that lighten near the bolsters, a (BTI) Old Timer 858OTB, for example.
I don't have one, but in the photos I've seen, the 8OTB looks like it's bone covers are also white near the bolsters.
On my Schrade family of knives, with Delrin covers, be they USA or offshore made, the lighter portions by the bolsters are always tan-ish or beige. (there is an intentional difference in color between the USA and offshore made) The 858OTB is white near the bolsters. I'm guessing they sanded and polished past the dye when fitting and finishing the covers.

My Case CV Amber Bone canoe also lightens near the bolsters, as does the Mediterranean Blue Case TB61028W DAM I have.

The white on the Delrin covers near the bolsters is from age storage, rub your thumb over it and it disappears. The color should be a pale brown, although I have seen an almost pinky tinge too.
