This is not a buy thread. Please read until the end.

Hey guys. A while back I had a NOS Schrade 233 won and paid for on the auction site. The seller was in the midst of a warehouse move and lost the knife. Anyhow, I’ve been looking for one off and on since. It’s becoming clear that this knife in good condition isn’t that easy to find. At this point I am considering an alternative. I own a Case Small Texas Jack and have looked at the larger version of that knife. I like it but it looks like the spine of the blade extends at an angle off of the handle. I’d prefer it to be flat. Does anyone know of any knives in a comparable size with clip and pen blades and square ends?

Thanks!

I just dug through my collection, closest I could find are these two Camillus, but they have round ends.

The blade on my Large Texas Jack isn't canted downward too much. Besides, I prefer a blade with a slight downward cant, it brings the blade into the cutting material easier. I guess it depends if you want it to look better or operate better.

I've had a couple of knives that I didn't like the downward cant. I brought them more in line by SLOWLY filing the shoulder of the tang area. Much like filing the kick go slow and check often, too much and the knife is ruined. I took a pic and circled the area I'm referring to, though on this bullbuster its perfect as is.20200618_114004.jpg
A small jewlers file is perfect for this, also masking tape on the bolsters helps.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I appreciate it.

I think I may end up doing some filing. Haha.

I have modified the secondary on my Texas Jack ( first to a clip, then to.a sheeps foot ) because I didn't like the particular shape, but the blades on mine all open perfectly parallel with the spine of the knife.

Is that the 6292? I have the current Texas Jack in CV. That does line up flat. The vintage 6292, the bigger one, is the one where the blade has a spine angled slightly downward.
