I just bought a Schrade 272 and while I am waiting for it to arrive I am doing my usual background/history search (which is really my favorite part.)

I can't find a whole lot of info on this little guy? The picture on the "collectors of Schrade" site is the same pattern, but most definitely from a different factory or decade. Anyone have any info on this little peanut?

Here's the link to the ENDED auction:

Yours is an Open Stock 272, and was probably mfg in the mid-late 70's. Uncommonly, yours is one that bears neither the Walden or NY in the Tang Stamp. I'm not sure when they quit making the open stock patterns. I have one 825 that falls into that category.

The 72OT was made on that very frame, but to my knowledge, there was no Uncle Henry equivalent. I have several Ulster 183 peanuts that are that same size. Ulster called them a dog legged jack. Cute and handy little pattern.

I see the 272 in the 79 open stock list but not after.
Ive opened a new section to collectors-of-schrades web site that should help us research these types of questions.

The catalogs are coming.

Dang Larry, you are all over it.

You got me thinking what I might find because the numbers of open staock reduced so much for 1980.
Seems a lot of items were dropped in 1980
Here is a scan from the 1979 YE meeting for the upcoming 1980 year.
You'll see the 272 and quite a few others.
TTYL
Larry
