Hi,
I'm new to knife collecting and would like to know what is a good resource for Schrade?
I've purchased an empty wooden 3rd Gen collector's box and would like to complete the set.
On Ebay it seems folks set the auto-bid high on these blades as I keep getting outbid so I'm wondering what the value of these really are.

The only other Schrade items I own are the Spitfire and an Uncle Henry folding lock back LB7DP.
Regarding my interest in the company, my great grandfather worked for them when they were in Walden, NY and I have a friend who was at the Ellenville location up until they closed. My friend (an engineer) helped develop the Spitfire. He then moved to the west coast to work for Leatherman (helped design the Skeletool), and then on to SawStop.

Anyway.. any help would be appreciated!

You can pick these up for a reasonable price without the box and paperwork. Say around $40. Be careful not to get any with xxx through the tang stamp I've seen a bunch if factory seconds like that. I've also seen a wide range of color on the rosewood scales, so matching them up might be tough. Some of the probably came out of a display like yours and are faded on one side. There are two or three stainless variations that go in there also.

Hi tenter75 from Australia, I have a full set in the display.
Take your time when collecting, slow always wins in the end.
$45 is about what most of thoes knives sell for; I have seen some sell for $30.
I have been looking for a Spitfire, for years now. I missed one that sold for $28 back in 2009. Now I never see them... Ken

There is a fool trying to sell some 3RD Gen knive on eBay at present, for $200 each. He is a fool, stay away from him.

What makes him a fool to stay away from? He has perfect feedback. He's trying to make a buck on ebay, as many of us do. I see he's offering a few Schrades and Camillus knives. And really, some Schrade and Camillus collectors do vastly over pay for those things. Not a knock on any of you, just the facts.

I’m sorry I tried to help you;
if you have $231.99 to buy a knife from a seller that is "dicounted from $289"; and that knife sells for $45 to $50 every day of the week, on eBay.
You do not need my help. However, if you buy the same knife from me for $230, I will send $200 to the charity of your choice.

Update on the last sales on eBay in the past week; for Schrade 3rd Gen knives.
The highest price payed was $53, the seller with the $231.99 knife; is sill trying to sell it.
Most of the 3rd Gen knives sold for under $40 and one sold for $33.
