blutornado,
Is there anything etched on the blades of those 44OT's? And what is the handle material made of?

Eric

I think your 4OT may be a new Taylor knife made in China. To the best of my knowledge Imperial Schrade (USA) never made a 4OT.

I just checked ebay and found #110117286709. It is a Taylor box. The seller says the knife is new & has a warranty. If that is true, it must be a Taylor Chinese made copy of a Schrade 44OT.

Imperial Schrade is out of business & no longer warranties their products.

Here's a shot of a portion of the 1991 Old Timers with a close-up of the 44OT among a few others (do I sense Waynorth eyeballing that punch?):D . No mention of limited availability though.

According to Robert Clemente's book;
Schrade produced the 44OT from 1990 through 1993. This concurs with the catalogs that I have as well.

Clemente also says 4000 were produced in 2001 with a blade etch of "Special Edition."

Codger may know how many were produced between 1990 & 1993.

I think the 4OT was a typo (one 4 left out). I tried to do a search of completed auctions using 4OT and came up with a bunch of crotchless pantyhose! So if anyone needs to do any anniversary shopping . . .

Taylor is importing a "4OT" from China with the Old Timer brand markings. It's a four-blade congress pattern. This knife could be considered a "Taylor Original"; there was no USA-Schrade 4OT, and there was no USA-Schrade Congress pattern Old Timer.

Regarding the 44OT, that's actually the only 4-blade Old Timer knife that Schrade ever made (except the Ulster Old Timer camp knife). And it's the only Old Timer ever made with a surgical pen blade.

Best Wishes,
-Bob

As usual, great research by everybody. I learn something new everytime I stop by.
