I'm not a collector, but maybe I am becoming one. I have a few knives that are special to me, mostly for sentimental reasons. Some of my favorites are muskrats.

Anyway, I think I want to get a Schrade muskrat. I have spent some time with Search, but I haven't answered my question:

Can someone tell me what the differences are between a 77OT and a 787?

77OT is an old timer. the 787 was an open stock knife, and some were made during the walden years, some with single springs, and rounded bolsters, and some even had genuine bone scales. The 77OT is the old timer equivilent, mostly made "later" with the sawcut delrin handles. I have also noticed the 77OT more often has weak springs than the 787. I think they tempered the springs softer laster on in production. Hands down I'd take a 787 over any 77OT. Here are some photos of some of my muskrats, they are my favorite pattern (hence my username)

Also, note the difference is the shape and angle of the clip in picture #2

Thanks, Kaleb. Exactly what I needed to know. The 787 is what I need! BTW, I've been looking at your work. Maybe I need an old one with some MM magic performed on it?
