A friend I served in the U.S. Navy with for 24-years passed away last year. Yesterday his widow came by with this Schrade 80T Old Timer Senior Stockman and asked if I'd like to have it. Of course I said; "Yes". It was the last knife he carried while still in the Navy.

The knife is 4" long closed with a main Clip blade that is 3" long. The Sheep-foot blade is 2¼" long and the Spey blade is 2 1/8" long. All three blades have a moderate pull (say 5 on a scale of 1 to 10) and have very good snap. I'm not sure about the scales but I believe they are cut delrin. The pins and liners are brass.

The knife has seen some hard use but hasn't been abused. It needs sharpening so I'll sharpen it this afternoon and get it ready to slip into my pocket tomorrow morning.

Very nice knife with a great story. Put an edge on it and carry it Proudly. A true American classic.

Hi,

A truly classic knife that will keep your friend close to you every time you use it. It looks like he really prized that 8OT. While it appears to be used, it was used well and will continue to serve you as well for many more years.

And you are correct, the scales are saw-cut Delrin.

Delrin, it is.

A great knife in and of itself. The connection to your friend makes it priceless.

A great knife, with a great history. Doesn't get much better than that. Enjoy

More times than not, it's the history & stories of the knife & not so much the model, the mfg., the style, etc. that make it special. Everytime I get one of my grandfather's hunting knives out, I remember being 6 or 7 & listening to all the stories at the table on Saturday evening of him, my dad, & my uncle had from hunting all day. Put a nice edge on that knife & carry it with you every day.

You must be absolutely delighted to have your buddy's knife. What a wonderful keepsake with all those memories to go with it........that makes it priceless.......

Enjoy:)

Those #8's are great EDC's. We have a Schrade subforum right here, by the way, and there are 2 other places on the 'net to do research on them.

I'm sorry your friend passed away. I'm glad you have his knife as a keepsake. A have a couple 8OTs, and they're great working knives.
