Hey all,

I about sold all my knives off by last summer, when not for financial reasons it tended to happen after they'd been here for a month anyway. So a little while ago I decided to feeding my knife interest by trying to work on more broken down then not folders. I don't have any illusions of being great at it but it meas I still get to buy and play with some knives.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy the way they are coming out, hence the post :) though I have some more work I want to do on the blades (pen has a chip)

Notice their are slight gaps between the liner and spring on bother scales. But the bolsters don't have any, that's improvement for me :D

Anyway, I wanted to do a single spring two blade shrade for a while after handling a GEC 66 in that configuration and really liking it. But it turns out I couldn't find a way of fitting the main blade (that was pretty narly to be honest) and the pen or sheepfold together, it ride son a separate spring on the 880 and was just too long, or to fat one way or the other. So I decided to put the pen and sheep together instead.

Scales are Bocote, the bolsters are my second attempt t soldering them on, and they came out a little better this time.

I also felt like the pins peened better on this one, I normally can't get very much spread before I have to sand 'em smooth, but these did pretty well, I think I'm getting the feel for where to cut the pin of and how to find them with the hammer.

All this would be better with in progress pictures, i think, but I didn't take any So I'll just have to apologies for that one, I don't expect the folders to come out right or get finished :)

Thanks for looking,

Thanks, all!

I like the old schrades, they weight in your hand really nicely and the blade grinds always feel so well done to me.

Great job on this beauty! Love the bocote scales and great job on the fitting. Well done and it got to feel good to carry a knife you put together!!

That was a worthy effort, Peter. I like it a lot!

I really like what you did with this one Peter! That old Schrade steel takes a wicked edge, their heat treat was awesome! Well done:thumbup:

Nice work, KY! I admire your skills.

Good for you, digging in and giving it a go! Some of us (namely ME), have lots of knives around that need fixing up but don't have the gumption to go at it. Too busy and all that, more likely afraid of the failures it takes before we get good at it. I think you're doing great!

Nice job....I really like that blade set up. Looks like it was born that way. Bocote looks great.

Wow, much bigger response then I thought, thanks again everyone!

It does feel great to get it done and carry it, after seeing the work of some of you all I just can't help but try, and again it gives me an excuse to pick up knives without just letting them sit which sometimes drives me nuts, don't know why.

I've been carrying it ever since I finished, I missed the larger blade for a moment when cutting the first apple but like sitflyer said, the blades are such good cutters I soon got over it, I really like the "big" sheepfold blade son the schrade stockmans and like it even more in this thinner form.

The actions are a little stiff and sometimes gritty but some wd40 clears them out and hopefully that'll become more permanent as time goes on, but I likely have a lot to learn about how to make them more "snappy."

As a hobby goes it's really interesting, occasionally really frustrating (my fingers feel like clubs most o the time with folders) and fun especially because you can get use out of what you (every now and then manage) to get finished :)
