HI can anyone tell me if around 1970's early they put out a special 897UH because ive purchased a 897UH with decorative fileings on the liners.was this a limited offer (it is a boxed knife thanks PP

i haven't seen a gussied up 897UH, but there's a guy around here who has an affinity for 897s. maybe he'll show up. kinda like waitin for Santa, except ya know when he's coming. roland

It is probably an early Schrade Walden 897UH. Those had milled brass liners that look like tiny teeth

New in Box, Mint in Box

Mint is very subjective. New is pretty self explanatory.

an in an erudite post somewhere in the bowels of bladeforums a knowledgeable coin collector explained the "mint scale" (10 levels, i believe, with the top, #10, being lost once it is even touched,as it is no longer in state it was when it left the mint). he also pointed out that mint refers ONLY to coins. our term properly should be "factory condition"; i.e. exactly as it was when it left the factory (not mint). whadaya think of that ? roland
