I recently picked up an 8OT off the bay, I've wanted one for a long time and finally bit the bullet.

Anyways, I've noticed that the blades on it are stainless and the springs are carbon. How common is this?
I'm kind of disappointed because I love 1095 steel.

Stamp Reads:
SCHRADE
USA 8OT

In the end of days, 03-04, many historicly 1095HC knife patterns were being changed over to stainless without the identifying nomenclature of "+", or so noted in literature, advertising or packaging. In that pattern, to be fairly certain of carbon steel, either get one that is beginning to show pepper or tarnish, or is in the earlier packaging. That said, some collector may just be looking for the less common later stainless production and swap you a like new carbon bladed knife for yours.

I have never seen an 8OT with a blade stamped "Schrade+ 8OT". However, all or most knives are carbon blades, even the Stainless blades.
If you intend to use this knife, cut a lemon with it. That will show you if it is stainless or not.
I have seen knives listed as "High Carbon Stainlss Blades"....Ken

Tried my usual patina method of a soak in a mug of coke for about three quarters of and hour and there was no change, Guess it is SCHRADE+ for sure

Is the blade stamped "Schrade+ USA" ? That is also a go test... Or is the blade stamped "SCHRADE".....Ken

Yah, when they changed some of the Old Timer patterns over to stainless, they didn't change the stamps. They did it on the sly. As I said, this was just in the last couple of years.
